Kenneth Eugene Anderson

	Kenneth Eugene 'Gene' Anderson  died December 22, 2003 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a short illness.  He was 72.
	Mr. Anderson was born June 22, 1931 in Herrin  to Gerald Anderson (deceased) and Beulah Booker Anderson, living in Sterling Ill., who survives.  He had been a resident of Monterey County for 40 years.
	He was a former member of the Monterey  County Sheriff's Department, the Seaside Police Department and for 15 years was Chief of Security for Pebble Beach Company.  He worked for seven years as a special agent for the Department of Defense.  He had also been a Police Science Instructor at MPC.
	He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 and was a volunteer at the Aquarium in Monterey.  He received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Golden State University.
	Gene took pride in exceling in all areas of athletics during his high school career at Du Quoin High School.
	He is survived by his wife, Carolyn C. Anderson of Royal Oaks, Calif.; daughters, Lisa J. Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Teresa A. Bullard of Salinas, Paula K. Holden of Easley, S.C., Claudia L. Lang of Oceanside, Calif. and Dianne Andis of Bristol, Va.; son, Tony David DeRose of San Rafael, Calif.; brothers, Jack M. Anderson of Placerville, Calif. and Thomas R. Anderson of Lansing, Ill.; sister, Barbara Jane Gee of Sterling, Ill.; mother, Beulah Anderson of Sterling, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
	Memorial services were held Saturday, December 27 at 2 p.m. at Paul Mortuary, Pacific Grove, Calif.  Interment was at a later date in the El Carmelo Cemetery, Pacific Grove.
	Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
